Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned at J. Lawrence in Bethel CT

Warm up your Winter with a Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned

It's COLD here in New England today at 27 degrees and it's actually unseasonable warm for January! Over at J Lawrence in Bethel CT they have a way of warming up the temperatures by serving some of the best winter cocktails around and this Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned does just that!

Best of all, this recipe features not one but TWO local distributor's products! Litchfield Distillery Vanilla Bourbon and Hartford Flavors Wild MoonLiqueurs Birch Liqueur!

Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned

  • 1-1/2 ounce simple syrup (adjust sweetness to your preferences)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 ounce Vanilla Bourbon (we recommend Litchfield Distillery Vanilla Bourbon)
  • 1 ounce Birch Liqueur (we recommend Wild Moon Liquers Birch Liqueur)
  • 2 slices orange (save one for garnish)
  • 2  Luxardo cherries save one for an orange peel garnish)

Directions:

Add the simple sugar and bitters to a rocks glass, one slice of orange, and one Luxardo cherries. Muddle ingredients. (Muddle means to gently crush them in the bottom of the glass)

Fill the glass with ice cubes, add Vanilla Bourbon and Birch Liqueur, and gently stir to combine.

Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and an orange peel. Add essence of peel around rim of glass.

Sip and enjoy!

Ginger Nogg with Virgil Kaine Bourbon for the Holidays

The Ginger Nogg - Perfect for Fall and Winter Holidays


Today we're bringing you a delicious holiday cocktail, the Ginger Nogg, courtesy of the great folks over at Virgil Kaine Low Country Whiskey.

If you're not familiar with Virgil Kaine Low Country Whiskey, they're a small batch brewing company out of Charleston, South Carolina. manufacturing great bourbon and rye whiskey since 1863.

The Ginger Nogg


1 1/2 oz Virgil Kaine Ginger-Infused Bourbon
1/2 oz aged rum
3/4 oz cream
3/4 oz cardamom syrup
egg yolk

Dry shake all ingredients in a cocktail mixer well (20 seconds). Pack shaker full with ice and shake for an additional 20 seconds and strain. Garnish with nutmeg on top.
